I loved this project! I think it perfectly leans into what it means to be a pop album while also having unique ideas and sounds! She surely stands out when she gets these really nice second verse beats where she gets into what I’d describe as a flow state? I also love that while much of the album is about boys and such… there’s also cute moments about female friendships, and deeper moments about her inner world. Sonically, The One That I Want (But I Don’t Know Why) and Know You Forever stand out while lyrically, She’s Dating My Boyfriend, Out Of My Body, and I Miss My Friend stand out. I listened to this album probably close to four times while finishing my book and it really grew on me in those couples hours. I think Sadie Jean, beyond having a nice voice, also has nice stories to tell that maybe haven’t broken any chains yet, but have certainly made people feel the real things.
