8/10

I really love this album…….yeah. I love how this one is called Lover and has more breakup songs than reputation. REAL. This is our pink girlie of the Tay eras. I love her to death. I feel very protective of her. Truly, I don’t dislike any songs on this album. I don’t really listen to I Forgot That You Existed or It’s Nice To Have A Friend or London Boy HOWEVER I can still always get down to any of those. This album also just has some certified bops. I unironically love ME! and You Need To Calm Down. Both good pop songs. They both still have messages! The standouts are the only four songs that you must listen to on this album. The feminist song (The Man), the love song (Lover- but also I Think He Knows and Daylight are both great), the anxiety song (The Archer), and the heartbreak song (you can choose Death By A Thousand Cuts or Cornelia Street). I love the pop aesthetic combined with the sweet lyrics. Also! Shoutout Soon You’ll Get Better. Such a well written song. Overall? Cinematic love(ish) album for the ages! It’s not my fav of Tay’s but also it was followed by four of the greatest albums of all time (and then of course Showgirl) so it’s hard for our girlie to not get overshadowed (plus, covid on top of that). We didn’t get a long Lover era because of it BUT this album and time for Taylor still has my heart and honestly I would maybe recommend this one as the best one for a newbie lowkey… it’s an easy listen with good lyrics but not so complex that non-smart people (non-swifties)(JOKE BTW) could still understand.
