This is a 50/50 album for me. Half of it he goes into deep thoughts that I've never heard a song go into before... and the other half he lands very on the nose where it feels like the emotion is taken away. I really love Must Have Been The Wind and Jesus in LA. Like I truly think both of those songs are very telling and revolutionary, truly. I love them both to death and could listen to them forever. I also enjoy Mind Is a Prison, Oh My God, The Book of You & I, and Alamo. But the one's that fall flat to me are Demons, Match In The Rain, and I'm Not A Cynic. They feel simultaneously too on the nose and too metaphorically backboned. I just feel like they lack specific song writing. He's definitely a sweet and catchy song writer though! Must Have Been The Wind is truly one of my favorite songs ever though! It's on my list of songs that I desperately wish I had written first. Also- Jesus in LA will always leave me wondering where his religious beliefs lie.
