This is such a tender album. I feel like it's not technically that good, but I enjoy it. Are there some cringe songs?- OH YEAH. But I really love the vibes he brings. It's sad boy music and I feel like we don't get that enough. I literally love the closing song so much. I love the concept of a heart being a bad thing to break. It almost casually states it as just another thing you break like a frame on the mantel... except it's a heart!! I don't think anything in here is revolutionary, but I think it's all good. Some of the tunes are a little cornball (Broken Boy, Supposed To Be A Love Song, If We Started Talking Again), and some of the songs are built around very common topics (Hard Way, Next Life, Loving Means Leaving). But even if I find Anson to play it safe a lot in the song writing department... I find him charming and I don't know... I might be a hypocrite for liking this and hating on some of the other albums I've hated on... but it's how I feel. Also, collide!! I loove that song.
