Damn, I hate this a lot. Like I wanted to like it too. I know how popular and well-loved Charli is among the masses... but I don't get what they see in this. Every song is like head ache inducing genuinely. I can see why some of the songs were popular as instagram/tik tok sounds and audios... but I can't ever imagine listening to any of these songs outside of that context. I just don't enjoy any of it. It's very techno (which obviously the vibe), but I guess I just don't like that? I also just think she overuses repetition in her writng. I imagine that the point of this music is not the lyrics, but then what is the point? I don't understand why people really enjoy the sound either? I think she says something interesting in a couple of the songs like Rewind, Mean girls, and I think about it all the time.... but even there I just barely give it credit in the writing realm. So I guess what really confuses me is.... who is this for? Who wants this? Who is reaching for this? Genuinely curious. I want to get it. I fear I don't. Someone explain it to me, I guess? Right now though?- it just feels like this insufferable techno beat with repeated lyrics ("falling in love again and again" again and again and again and again). Someone enlighten me on what I'm missing. Am I not smart enough to get the genius of this?? I guess I'll put Rewind as my favorite.
