Lifeblood

2004Pop rock, Synthpop, Alternative rock1 review

Released on November 1, 2004, 'Lifeblood' is the seventh studio album by Welsh alternative rock band Manic Street Preachers. The album marked a departure from their earlier, more aggressive sound, embracing a more melodic and introspective style. It features tracks like 'The Love of Richard Nixon' and 'Empty Souls', which both peaked at number 2 on the UK Singles Chart. Despite receiving generally positive reviews, the album was the band's least commercially successful, reaching number 13 on the UK Albums Chart. Fun fact: The album was reissued in 2024 to mark its 20th anniversary.

Easily one of the Manics' strongest albums. Shame it was Nick Nasmyth's last for a decade, his keyboards really complement it. Some of their best songs and probably my favourite artwork
