WOW! I finally got the chance/nerve to listen to Phoebe Bridgers (and of course, was in my head about it that I wasn't cool enough or I wouldn't get it or I wouldn't like it), but I LOVED this. I feel it deep in my bones. I think Punisher and I Know The End are direct attacks against me. I genuinely think every song on this album is really great and perfect. Like I mess with some more than others, but they're all still really really great. I think she's just PEAK sad girl vibes + alternative music where I never know where she's going and I truly mess with that so much. I think there's times where it gets the taddest bit boring, but like honestly I was still pretty locked the whole damn time. I also love the album aesthetics. I think my favorite thing about her song writing is the random specficity that really inspires me in my own writing to dare to be that specific (and not be afraid of being too me and not relatable enough). Because I don't directly relate to every scene she's pointing to in her songs, but I can still appreaciate and bring my own association to it without having to actually get the exact scene. Her specifcity is RARE and I really enjoy it. It's the opposite of Gracie Abrams new album. Gracie doesn't get specific so I can maybe relate to her songs a little easier, but they also don't cut as deep because I don't believe her feelings as much. I believe every word Phoebe says in this album. I've had debate with friends on how specific art should be and a lot of them prefer Gracie's writing because they can push it on their own lives easier (which I get that pov), but I prefer Phoebe's writing because it makes the story feel more believable and real. Anyways, this is great.
