The Carpenter

I literally do not mean to glaze these guys…. It’s just that they’re THAT good. This album truly does not have a bad song. I was starting to think there was one I didn’t like with Paul Newman vs. The Demons… but it won me over by the end. They just write about the best topics. They’re so existential. I question life when I listen to them and while I love my typical pop girlies (literally duhhh) I can’t say I question and ponder life in the same way when I listen to them as when I listen to the Avetts. The Avetts also feel so real and human which I think helps with their song writing and topics. Like at the end of the day they’re just fathers who only first began living when they met their daughter. (Like literal tears it’s so sweet). It’s just a masterpiece from start to finish. I think Geraldine is the weakest (ugh, which doesn’t have to be but it’s less than 2 minutes so what am I supposed to do with it? It almost feels like an interlude). Anyways, I think these guys need some sleep probably because they are simultaneously depressed, ambitious, fathers, heartbroken, and etc etc all at once. Thank you for making me sad and happy and all the feels within a 50 minute listen. And as a winter baby… winter in my heart is everything to me.
