Best hype marching, running, walking and gym sounds
I don't know... this is okay? I don't really like a lot of it. It feels like he's playing with a lot of different sounds that kind of just leave the album jarring to me. I liked his debut album a lot more than this one. I did subject myself through the whole of Watermelon Sugar for this review... it was just not worth it. I didn't really like To Be So Lonely, She, Canyon Moon, or Treat People With Kindness. They either bored me or felt out of genre and gave off weird vibes compared to what I expect from Harry Styles. I'm all here for experimentation, but I just don't think it went very well for him here. I did really like Golden, Cherry, Falling, and Fine Line a lot. I think my favorite would have to go to Cherry or Fine Line. I think I like his sad boy slow songs the best. He also CAN write a good pop bubble gum song... but those are never my favorite from him (like Watermelon Sugar or As It Was- don't reallyyy love either of those that much). I think I'm starting to get why people really like Harry Styles (and I definitely got it with his debut album I listened to), but I would love to hear more stuff I really like and grasp onto in his two more recent albums when I get the chance to listen to them. I think he's certainly a talented man... I just can't be convinced he thought every song on this album was one of the best twelve he had written for it?
Great album from beginning to end! Fck St. Jimmy
Yeah, I don't like this very much. It bored me to death. His writing in this album just feels even more trivial than normal (and it's normally trivial). Anson is known for writing songs about literature/media and now when he's just here writing about his love life... it's like... I don't feel that intrigued? He didn't tell me much. It was just basic love/heartbreak songs that anybody in the world could've written. The music is lovely to the ear for the most part, it's just not that striking. I forgot almost every song after it stopped playing tbh. It's not like there's nothing good on here, but it just felt like a downgrade from his last album. His last album wasn't deep or serious by any means, but it at least had a little to say and it's music was far more interesting and impactful. Also, each song is really short which is kind of a red flag to me in a pop album (but really any album in general) because it sticks out to me that they just had so little to say that they didn't even put a bridge into the song to expand on the topic (whcih not every single song in the world needs a bridge or long verses- but these could've benefited from longer and more meaty verses and/or bridges). I enjoyed A Girl I Knew, Amsterdam, and You'll Always Be Mine. I like those because they're all little sad piano ballads and that is in fact my favorite breed of song.
Is this album a 10/10 because it's actually that good and perfect?- frankly, no. It's a 10/10 because every single song is a page out of my diary and my soul. I found this album when I desperately needed it in my life and now I just sit here and appreciate my niche little Gracie album that nobody else even talks about. This album was my therapist. It was my confidant. It was my first experience with a real album listening experience to be honest. This and SOUR (Olivia Rodrigo) are two of the reasons I'm a Creative Writing major now. I've been told that I shouldn't give them that much credit in my life story like that (and look I am being a little extreme to make a point), but genuinely I don't know if I would've ever written a poem (for anything other than school) if it weren't for THIS album. Every song is a page from my heart. It just feels like Gracie at her saddest and most honest. She wasn't trying to write hits (*sigh* Minibar, I'm looking at you); she was just being honest. I like to think of this album as a result of the pandemic. Thank you to this album for making middle school Reagan even more depressed than she already was (but like in a good way).
She is the moment. She is the diva. This album loses points compared to some of her other albums because I think it has a few misses (End Game, Dancing With Our Hands Tied, and This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things). The good news is that the other 12 songs are all literal bangers. Just to shout out a few: Delicate!! Gorgeous!! King of My Heart!! Dress!!! Call It What You Want????!! And so much more. This album is borderline cringe (yes, I'm aware that Look What You Made Me Do is a bit of a cornball song, but it is so culuturally iconic bro!!), but I love it with my whole entire beating heart. I think its best kept secret is that it's actually a love song at its core... everyone just thinks it's edgy so it's hateful. The Joe Alwyn era rip. I love how she was stripped of literally everything and still delivers this sweet album with so many songs for her Joe. I loved them together so bad. I think this album more than almost any of her albums too is such a specific and iconic era. It's so recognizable and has its own teeth. What a come back. I hope Kanye feels bad about himself. I hope all the haters feel bad about themselves. I hope Joe Alwyn feels bad about himself knowing that she wrote Call It What You Want about him and he still fumbled the bag. And I am overall just so happy I get to have this petty, sweet little album. This is the elite art you get where you take a risk of looking cringey- you might miss a couple times... but the hits!!! THE HITS!!!! <3.
I really don't like this. I thought I would. I thought I'd grown enough to like this album after giving up back in February of 2025 after just a few songs... but nothing has improved, and I apparently haven't matured enough to like it. Actually, I would say I matured out of it even more. Like, this album is so explicit and sexual for no reason? I mean, I know she's a grown adult, but who wants to listen to stuff this blatantly gross and "mature" in it's themes. Tate's fanbase is mostly teenage too... like what teenager is enjoying all these songs about toxic sex hook ups? It's like Sabrina Carpenter, but at least Sabrina is joking and toying with the listeners (like winking at us). Tate is dead serious, I fear. Even if I didn't care about the adult content in it... it's just shallow in general. The most basic pop album in the world. I do think the production on this album is cool, but the words just more me to death (that is if I can understand what she's saying- more than anyone else I've listened to I struggle to understand what she's singing because she sings with this accent on it). I know everyone and their mother loves this album, but I don't see the appeal. At best it's a basic pop album that has innovative sound and production. At worst it's a bland, uninspired, shallow album filled with songs about her and the Kid Laroi's sex life. I miss sad girl Tate ig. I do enjoy a couple of the songs and find their lyrics not too gross to listen to haha.
God, I love this album so much. Look I'm not here to glaze Taylor Swift (yes, I am), but MAN writing this whole album by herself (like fully by herself just to stick it to the haters because she is and always has been diva) is so insane. Like song writer of the century?? This is such a fun, sweet album too. SPARKS FLY?? Dear John (that man will never recover)?? ENCHANTED??? LAST KISS?? I CAN SEE YOU??? I Can See You is the sexiest song in the world BECAUSE it's not trying to be explicit or gross. It's so not blatantly sexual that the implications make it so much hotter. I would die for that song. I just love everything about this album because it's so sweet and angsty at the same time. I love how Never Grow Up and Better Than Revenge are on the same album. Literally awesome. Also, the Vault tracks on this album got hate, but I genuinely like all of them (except When Emma Falls In Love... sorry). Also, the purple aesthetic and dress is so peak. This album is just pure magic and whimsy and joy. I don't even have nostalgia for it, and I still think it's perfect. There's a few songs I don't personally like, but they're not even objectively bad songs. She just absolutely cooked with this album because she is the goat. Thank you, Taylor. <3
