The last album The Beatles recorded together, and by many measures their finest. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios and produced by George Martin, it carries an elegiac, valedictory weight — four musicians who knew it was ending and played like it. Side A moves through the thunderous groove of Come Together, Harrison's quietly devastating Something, and the warm glow of Here Comes the Sun. Side B is something else entirely: a continuous medley of fragments stitched into a flowing suite, building through Golden Slumbers and Carry That Weight to The End — one of the great closing statements in rock history. The zebra crossing photograph outside the studio is one of the most reproduced images in music history. The music more than lives up to it.
