Released in early 1974, 'Back to Oakland' is the fourth album by Bay Area-based band Tower of Power. The album showcases the band's signature horn section and tight rhythm, featuring tracks like 'Don't Change Horses (In the Middle of a Stream)' and 'Squib Cakes.' It was voted by Modern Drummer magazine as one of the most important recordings for drummers to listen to. Fun fact: The album cover features a photograph by Bruce Steinberg at the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
