Long story short… she tells us she has a knife. What is the knife? We never find out. She’s pretending she’s confessing to us something deep someone did to her… but literally what? She’s saying something in inhibiting her… but doesn’t tell us what. Which can be good for interpretation… but it just feels like a so what moment? She tells us she was a daughter from hell but how? She never tells us how? She never confesses the bad things she did to her mom… she just was like “yeah I sucked and now I hope I’m like my mom one day.” Broke my heart she’s telling us something broke her heart about this guy leaving… but she never really lets us in on what. Basically, she’s wearing the pretty picture of being a confessional song writer (which I think she normally is) but then tells us nothing. WHICH you might be like “well, Reagan she doesn’t owe us all her drama and lore” but like… if you’re gonna call yourself a confessional song writer and act like a new Phoebe bridgers or Taylor Swift then like… that’s kind of part of the job. I mean Taylor Swift quite literally wrote a song about cheating because she felt stuck with High Infidelity or the lyric “give me back my girlhood, it was mine first” like DAMN. Those are confessions. You telling me someone broke your heart isn’t a confession. If you didn’t want to tell the world your secrets then be more in the pop star lane like Sabrina carpenter or Tate mcrae. So I don’t think the album is BAD but I understand the perspective of thinking she’s holding out on us especially because she literally said in an interview that in her old songs she regretted being too honest (I think she was talking about the song Best) but like YEAH look at that song. In Best she tells us all the horrible things she did that hurt that relationship… in this album she barely tells us anything bad anyone did. Anyways, 6/10 it's not bad... it's just less good than her usual.
