Elephant Stone

1988Neo-psychedelia1 review

Released in October 1988, "Elephant Stone" marked The Stone Roses' third single and their first with Silvertone Records. Produced by Peter Hook, the track blends neo-psychedelic elements with pop rock, showcasing the band's evolving sound. The B-side, "Full Fathom Five," is an alternate mix of "Elephant Stone" played in reverse. Fun fact: The song was added to the U.S. pressings of the band's debut album in 1989.

My favourite song ever made, this ethereal piece of psychedelic dance-pop-rock is the one I'd give the rare 11/10. Complemented by the three B-sides "The Hardest Thing in the World", "Full Fathom Five" and the 7" wah-wah edit of the song, I'm proud to own a 12" vinyl copy of this unforgettable, endlessly brilliant tune.
