Elliott Smith
1995Indie Folk1 review

Elliott Smith's self-titled second album, released on July 21, 1995, showcases his introspective songwriting and minimalist acoustic arrangements. Recorded between late 1994 and early 1995, the album features the haunting single "Needle in the Hay," which gained prominence after being featured in the film "The Royal Tenenbaums." The album's cover art, depicting two figures falling from a building, is a photograph taken by J.J. Gonson of a 1992 art installation in Prague. Fun fact: The song "Clementine" is a reworking of the 19th-century American folk ballad "Oh My Darling, Clementine."
