Yeah, this is a really sweet album. I love the way he just writes so earnestly. I just know that man is so good to and in love with his wife. The Avetts are just some of the most talented song-writers ever, in my opinion. Like... they deserve to be way more famous than they are. I think this album struggles to connect with me to the same degree the Avett Brothers' albums do because this one is a little mundane sonically. I love every word he says... but it doesn't take any risks musically speaking. It's mostly just like guitar pieces or piano ballads. Therefore, it doesn't super stimulate my mind or make me want to run back to it... however, I still think it's very beautifully written. It just misses than normal rock angst the Avetts like to bring their listeners. I loveee should we move, a weakness and a strength (def my favorite), and my true story/a life to live! I even was fond of samuel and the baler which I was shocked to realize I listened to the whole thing without him saying a single word (it's an instrumental track). Most of the time I skip songs if there's no words... but it made me forget that there were no words because the music was so fun (to be fair I was reading while listening though... I might have skipped otherwise hahaha). Anyways, the lyrics are great but the music makes this more like a 7/10. (P.S. I've seen the Avett Brothers live so I guess that means I've seen Seth live.. but I haven't seen just him live- which idk if he even does solo performances lowkey).
