Playboi Carti's self-titled debut commercial mixtape was released in April 2017 to widespread acclaim, establishing his distinctive, ad-lib-driven style rooted in minimalism. It includes breakout hits like 'Magnolia' and 'wokeuplikethis*' propelled by Pi'erre Bourne's vibrant, bouncy production. Fun fact: Much of the mixtape was recorded spontaneously, with Carti opting to freestyle entire songs rather than write lyrics down in advance!
