Reality Awaits is the seventh studio album by the American rock band The Strokes, serving as the follow-up to their Grammy-winning 2020 record The New Abnormal. Produced by Rick Rubin in Costa Rica, the album marks a highly experimental shift for the band, notably heavily featuring Julian Casablancas's use of Auto-Tune. A fun fact is that the band debuted the lead single, "Going Shopping," by secretly distributing it on cassette tapes to 100 fans through a promotional SMS service.
