The Low End Theory is the second album by American hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest, released on September 24, 1991 by Jive Records ([Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Low_End_Theory)). Fusing jazz samples and double-bass lines with understated rapping, it became a landmark of jazz rap and one of the most celebrated hip-hop albums of the 1990s ([Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Low_End_Theory)). Fun fact: the album turns 35 in September 2026 and features bass contributions from jazz great Ron Carter on 'Verses from the Abstract' ([Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Low_End_Theory)).
