Fresh Grooves for October 9

Troye Sivan is at his sun-drenched best on She's the Best — sleek, breathless pop that turns heartbreak into a balcony photo op. Pure golden-hour bliss.

Lil Darkie turns everything crimson on red — a claustrophobic concept record that's equal parts horror set and mosh pit. Not for the faint of heart, exactly as intended.

Slayyyter's i think he's got a girl is chrome-plated pop gossip at its finest — glittering synths, a knowing wink and a chorus built for the group chat.

Still on the board and still building steam: Quadeca's Life 1 remains the community favourite of this batch — experimental, layered and worth every headphone session.

Quavo's QRÒMELIFE keeps hanging around the top of the pile — melodic trap royalty with trademark ad-libs and hooks that refuse to age.

Also back for a second week: Swans' Newly Sentient Being, another towering, ritualistic set of long-form epics. Bring stamina — it rewards it.

Dev Lemons' hunting what we already killed stays in rotation too — wry, hooky indie pop with an eye-roll and a grin.

And Victoria Monét's Frequency of Love is still doing what she does best — plush, assured R&B from one of the game's most reliable hook-writers.

Dead Poet Society close things out with Monarch — alt-rock maximalism with proggy detours, huge riffs and a dramatic streak a mile wide.
