I love this album and always find myself coming back to it, there is such a range of different sounds and styles that take place throughout. Angie has a ton of stand out tracks (My favorites being)… Doesn't that scare you, Adore me, Hold Me & Athlete. While this album is fun to listen to because of the numerous musical styles, the devastating emotion that spilltab conveys, brings you into her inner turmoil and drama that surrounds her relationships. My Favorite song from this album is the song “Doesn't that scare you”, my interpretation of this song is that spilltab is demonstrating the anxiety that surrounds pursuing a relationship with someone who’s emotions aren’t quite clearly expressed and the fear of what could happen if this relationship falls apart. which is expressed through lines such as “Killing myself for a chance to read your mind” & “ Don't wanna feel that small and that unwise” “Dosent that scare you” The second line shows vulnerability in admitting that she doesn't want to feel as though she missed obvious signs that the relationship would not last and thus she asks “doesn't that scare you?” as she’s not sure why her interest does not have the same anxiety that she does. it is tracks like this that show a complex web of emotions that are deeply personal while also being relatable to nearly anyone who’s been in love before. I love this album and all of the tracks on it, however, one shortcoming of this album is the constant use of grating sounds and metal that are present in many of the tracks, such as the opener PINK LEMONADE and the title track Angie (which i love nonetheless) the noise which i find only takes away from the potential that some of these songs have to be great, spilltab’s songs with softer strings and piano are the ones that i find show off her musical talent and don’t distract from her vocals. Overall a top 10 favorite album of mine.
