Cloud 9

The fact that almost every song of hers uses some idiom we’ve all heard before is something that’s always bothered me about Meg. “What doesn’t kill you calls you 6 months later.” “How you like the taste of your own medicine?” “It’s a long, long way down, down to cloud 9.” “She’s like me without the bells and the whistles.” It’s just really gimmicky writing to me. I enjoyed convincing, liars and tigers and bears (even though that part is cringe I think it’s a good song about fame), wedding dress (mostly bc I think her voice sounds beautiful in it), and change of heart (the sound is great). Otherwise, it’s mostly just cringe writing that just feels petulant and dramatic. I wish she would add variety to the topics she sings too.
