Snow Angel (Deluxe)

Well, can I at least compliment the album cover of the deluxe version of the album because it is so cute and charms me into liking the album slightly more. Anyways, the actual music. Ehhh, it doesn't do much for me. I enjoyed Talk Too Much, Snow Angel, Pretty Girls, I Wish, and 23. Everything else didn't give me much meat. Mostly just basic songwriting that you can find anywhere. It's not like I strongly dislike any of the songs (except Poison Poison and Tummy Hurts), they just feel trivial and like they're not saying much of anything AND(/or) don't catch my ear with the music either. She sings really beautifully, of course, but that doesn't make up for the random very pointed lyrics. She is angsty at least (although sometimes the angst doesn't feel earned). There's also just no theme to the album. If she was gonna make the album cover her as a kid (although she didn't even do that until the deluxe) then maybe the album should've been themed around childhood or at least make the cover relevant. The art of making an album is not just releasing 10-20 songs together... we love it when it tells a story! Or if it's not gonna tell a story then at least let each song be good enough that I forget that there should've even been a story. I think the songs vary from good, to forgettable, to just bad. She gets a 5/10 for releasing an album that I could understand why people like.
