Stand by Me

1997Alternative Rock1 review

Released on September 22, 1997, 'Stand by Me' is the second single from Oasis's third studio album, 'Be Here Now'. Written by Noel Gallagher, the song reached number two on the UK Singles Chart. The track is noted for its heartfelt lyrics and soaring melody, becoming a fan favorite. The accompanying music video, filmed in Feltham, West London, reimagines scenes from The Guardian's 'The Whole Picture' campaign. Amazing! Only let down by "My Sister Lover", which is a painfully average, mildly irritating track in my opinion. "(I Got) The Fever" could've easily been on the album, but this is the strongest single release from the Be Here Now era for originality and track variation.
