Girlhood is truly a spectrum. What an experience this album is. Chappell is truly the most fearless song writer ever. She will write the most absurd thing you've ever heard in your life and not even bat an eye. See Casual, Naked in Manhattan, HOT TO GO!, Red Wine Supernova, and honestly every other song on this album too. I truly have the best time with the tracks on this album every time. I find they're very provacative and I feel somewhat convicted listening to it... but I could listen to it all the time. I wish she was a little more sad girlie, but she does seem absolutely mentally sad... she just doesn't express it in the way Taylor or Olivia do. I think of Chappell as Sabrina Carpenter except none of it is a joke or metaphor. Chappell truly will just tell you about the person she banged on her couch. Like I said, she's a fearless writer. Also, this girl's lore HAHA. I don't love every song on the album (like I don't love Naked In Manhattan, Guilty Pleasure, or After Midnight that much), but overall it's banger after banger with a couple depressing ballads sprinkled in there. Or my favorite breed of Chappell songs... it tricks you into thinking it's fun but then delivers the most provocatively depressing words ever... e.g. Casual. Anyways, she's not my go to writing style BUT every time I listen I have a dandy time. There's not many artists that have quite as much fun as she does.
