This is my review of the first 16 songs (Fortnight-Clara Bow) (I’m gonna do the Anthology separately). I saw a comment on my Instagram the other day that said, “who even were we before ttpd?” and I felt that. Like on a spiritual level. Who even was I before and after this album? It’s definitely an intimidating album to listen to with 31 songs (jeez) (and an intimidating review- hence why I’m doing the two halves separately). But wow this album is special, special, special. First of all, if you hate taylor swift please go listen to I Can Do It With A Broken Heart (or Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me?). If you want to lay in your bed and disassociate in utter dismay please go listen to loml. If someone hurt you in a way that you couldn’t even put into words please go listen to The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived. If you’re obsessed with the life of the showgirl (like literally how girls in the show biz work- not the album haha) please go listen to Clara Bow. If everyone in your life hates the man you’re dating please go listen to But Daddy I Love Him. Anyways… my point is that this album has such a way of vividly putting you into the scene and feeling of these moments. It’s just such a talent. This album needs to be listened to while staring at the ceiling and contemplating life. This is her poet era (like yes folklore and evermore too) but this one has the darkness that I think poets possess. Are there flaws in the album?- yes. (I’m looking at you The Alchemy). But this album overall is just hearty and honest.
